Boi de Guimarães presents the Afro-Brazilian music drama of Bumba-meu-boi. Traditional in the streets of Maranhão state, northeastern Brazil, for St. John’s parties in June, this group of rural workers and fishermen comes, with their drums, from the black community of Damásio, near Guimarães, in Maranhão, Brazil. They bring percussive music, singing melodies and the dance of the herdsmen characters with their Bull of embroidered velvet.

O Boi de Guimarães apresenta o drama musical afro-brasileiro do Bumba-meu-boi. Tradicional nas ruas do Estado do Maranhão, nordeste do Brasil, para as festas de São João em junho, este grupo de agricultores e pescadores vem, com seus tambores, da comunidade negra de Damásio, município de Guimarães, Maranhão, Brasil. Trazem música percussiva, toadas cantadas e a dança dos personagens vaqueiros com seu boi de veludo bordado.
